New CI airline appoints senior team

Waves has made a number of key appointments as it prepares to launch an inter-island air taxi service later this year.

Software entrepreneur Barrie Baxter has joined as Deputy CEO and Alan Bryon has taken on the CFO role, having previously been a director of a Guernsey-based fiduciary company and the CFO of LIAT, a regional airline based in the Caribbean.

Jim Rouse joins the team as technical co-ordinator with 17 years’ experience designing and building bespoke IT systems. He comes to Waves following five years with local e-commerce specialists IEB Trading delivering optimised algorithms, procedures, and tools across the business. Having spent 20 years in Sydney, Emy De La Mare brings a wealth of client service-focused experience to her role as Wave’s PR and marketing manager.

Simon Crook continues as aviation adviser and is joined by technical adviser David Raskino and former CEO of Airtel-Vodafone Ian Campbell.

In January, the company, headed by locally-based entrepreneur Nick Magliocchetti as CEO, announced plans to launch a tech-led, demand-led air taxi service between the Channel Islands and to the south of England and Northern France.

“It’s been an incredibly busy three months but we have deliberately been quiet as we want to ensure that our business model is robust. We want to provide a real alternative to Islanders and so the whole experience of booking, checking in and flying needs to be flawless,” said Mr Magliocchetti.

“The team has grown considerably and we now have some incredibly talented people on board. The island may be small but the calibre of people rivals anywhere I have worked. We have built a team with specific expertise, based on what will make Waves different, and now with dedicated offices, we’re able to work much more closely together as we move towards the next stage.”
