Judging line-up announced for IoD Awards as nominations draw to a close

Businesses have until Friday to submit nominations for the 2015 Jersey Director of the Year Awards.

Nominations are open until Friday 20 February and can be made online via the IoD’s new website at www.iod.je/awards. Nominees do not have to be members of the IoD, they simply need to demonstrate the qualities sought by the IoD under each award category.

The judges for the sixth annual awards, organised by the Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors are:

• Vicky Milner, founder, Callington Chambers (Chairman)
• Jason Laity, Executive Director, KPMG and past Chairman of the IoD Jersey branch
• John McGuinness, Head teacher, Grainville school, winner of the 2014 Public/Third Sector
• Chris Clark, CEO, Prosperity 24.7, winner of the 2014 Director of the Year for a Medium Organisation and highly commended at National level
• Claire Boscq-Scott, Managing Director, Claire Boscq-Scott Customer Services, winner of the 2014 Director of the Year for a small organisation

Ms Milner said: "I am delighted to chair the judging panel for the 2015 IoD Awards and to be joined by such an experienced and varied group of judging colleagues. We have three past winners on the panel and between us represent both small and large businesses, as well as the public sector, digital sector, consumer services and the legal and finance sectors. The Jersey Awards have an outstanding track record in finding winners who go on to enjoy further success at National level, so I would strongly encourage people to take a few minutes to visit the IoD website and nominate someone who they know has made a real difference through ability and hard work."

The simple online nomination process requires a concise recommendation of up to 250 words, with successful shortlisted nominees being subsequently interviewed in more depth by the independent judging panel. For the purposes of the awards, a director can include anyone that has the strategic responsibilities of a director but does not necessarily carry the specific job title of director.

Designed to celebrate the achievements of shortlisted nominees and winners, this year’s black tie awards dinner will take place on Friday 24 April at the Hotel de France and will once again be hosted by special guest speaker, broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth.

There are seven categories for 2015, including a new award that will recognise the best performer on the latest chartered director course:

• Director of the Year for a Small Organisation (less than ten employees)
• Director of the Year for a Medium Organisation (11-100 employees)
• Director of the Year for a Large Organisation (100+ employees)
• Young Director of the Year
• Public/Third Sector Director of the Year
• Global Director of the Year
• Chartered Director of the Year
