Seapower Marine secures Volvo Penta dealership in Jersey

Less than a year after launching, Seapower Marine has secured dealership of Volvo Penta, bringing competition to the Jersey market for the first time.

The Swedish-made engine is used by up to 80% of yachts and powerboats in Jersey, and the firm holds a similar proportion of the global market for pleasure boat engines.

Johnathon Pereira, Managing Director, Seapower Marine said: “Seapower Marine fills a niche in the Jersey market for high quality marine engineering and fast-turnaround boat servicing and maintenance.

“Getting the Volvo Penta dealership so soon after launching Seapower Marine is a huge deal for us. Volvo Penta engines are very popular with Jersey boat owners; not only because of their reliability but because of the global service network and worldwide supply of parts. This means we can always secure what we need to keep clients’ boats in the water and running as well as possible.”

Mr Pereira set up Seapower Marine in January 2015, over 17 years after first starting work in marine engineering. He has since been joined by two former colleagues, Robert Miere, and Ben Sharkey.

Mr Pereira said: “People in the Channel Islands take great pride in maintaining their boats to the highest standards, something which fits perfectly with our ethos for providing exceptional customer service.

“We’re all passionate about boats and understand owners want to be able to use their boats when the weather is good, and not have them sitting around waiting for parts or for a service. We pride ourselves on being quick, efficient, and on treating boat owners as we would like to be treated.”

As well as Volvo Penta, Seapower Marine is the authorised dealer for Caterpillar and Tohatsu engines, and Smartliner boats. Located in La Collette harbour, the company also offers a full boat maintenance service, co-ordinating boat hoisting, cleaning, polishing and electronics, and has a well stocked marine chandlery.
