Andrew Tually, counsel at international offshore law firm Carey Olsen, has joined the firm's Singapore office as a result of increasing demand for its corporate and finance legal services and rapid growth in Asia.

This follows the firm's launch in Singapore in October 2015 – with a focus on finance and corporate transactions including capital markets, mergers & acquisitions and alternative investment funds – and the opening of a Hong Kong office in November 2016.

Ben Morgan, partner in Carey Olsen's Guernsey office, said: “We’ve experienced strong growth in Asia in recent months. With offices in Singapore and Hong Kong we are able to offer our clients direct access to offshore legal services in Asian time-zones.

“Andrew is a highly experienced lawyer who has been with the firm for nearly ten years, advising a wide range of global funds, banks, asset managers, administrators and custodians. His expertise will enable us to service an ever-growing demand for highly specialist fund, corporate and finance advice in Asia,  dealing with complex cross-border matters, and support our continued growth.”

Mr Tually is recognised as a "Rising Star" by the IFLR1000 from 2014-2016 for his work in hedge funds and private equity funds. He has extensive experience in the structuring, formation and provision of ongoing advice to open-ended and closed-ended collective investment schemes, including private equity, hedge funds and fund of fund structures.

Mr Tually joined Carey Olsen in 2007 having worked as in-house counsel for an insolvency practice in Australia, and prior to that, as a graduate lawyer with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

Linda Lee, Carey Olsen's Managing Partner, Asia, said: "We welcome Andrew's move to our Singapore office. His experience in funds, corporate and finance work will extend our ability to quickly and expertly provide advice to our fast-growing Asia client base. Expanding the firm's presence in Asia has been key to Carey Olsen's recent growth and the relocation of several key lawyers to Singapore and Hong Kong has meant we have the depth of expertise and experience to service our clients and their intermediaries in countries throughout Asia in a timely and efficient manner."

Mr Tually's move follows the appointment of Arigen Liang as counsel in the firm's Hong Kong dispute resolution and insolvency practice, as well as Cayman partners Michael Makridakis and Anthony McKenzie relocating to Hong Kong and Singapore respectively.
