The Saffery Champness Rotary Walk committee is giving Guernsey charities a few more weeks to apply for a portion of the funds it will raise at this year’s event.

Charities and voluntary organisations seeking financial support for a specific project or initiative now have until the end of April to submit their applications to the committee.

David Mortimer, chairman of the organising committee said: “Submissions for all kinds of projects and specific items, no matter how big or small, will be considered for funding and should be made in writing outlining full details.”

The walk, which takes place on Saturday 7 June, has raised more than £550,000 for local charities since its first year in 1998 and has helped make a huge difference to a host of very worthwhile projects.

Any charities that would like to apply for funding can find more information about the walk and the application form on the new website, www.scrwalk.org.gg, which has been built by the C5 Alliance Group.  After the group acquired Itex holdings in 2013, C5 has continued to facilitate the digital aspects of the walk.

Nick Batiste, managing director of sponsor Saffery Champness, said that he was sure that there must be a lot of local charities out there keen to progress with a project but without the funds to do so.

“Helping charities such as these is the primary objective of the walk and we would love to see as many organisations as possible to come forward and apply for funding,” he said.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is embedded in the culture of our business.  The number of enthusiastic employees who are either walking or volunteers on the day is unbelievable.  We are so excited about being involved for the first time this year and look forward to raising as much money as possible for local worthy causes.”

Any queries can be directed to info@scrwalk.org.gg  and forms are available on the website or from Saffery Champness’ office at La Tonnelle House, Les Banques, St Sampson’s.

Successful applicants will be informed by the Saffery Champness Rotary Walk Committee in May and cheques will be presented at a post event reception in the autumn once all the sponsorship funds have been submitted.

Any one keen to register for this year’s walk can do so online by logging onto the new Saffery Champness Rotary Walk website www.scrwalk.org.gg.
