The importance of having a career action plan and the key points to consider when creating your own plan will be the focus of the next WDF meeting Women. Fast Forward. Next steps on your career action plan.

The event, sponsored by EY, will take place on Tuesday, 13 June at Les Cotils and will feature three guest speakers from EY who will discuss their own career action plans and the roles mentors and sponsors have played in their careers so far. The results from the EY and WDF survey, which was conducted at the end of last year, will also be shared at the event.

Speaker, Wendy Martin, EY Partner and Channel Islands Head of Tax, will explain what you should consider when developing your plan.

“Having a career action plan provides you with a valuable road-map to identify the next steps you need to take to achieve your career aspirations. When developing your own plan, it is important to consider who are the stakeholders that will influence your career path and how you will get them onside. Sponsors and mentors play an essential role in this process and can help get the buy-in you will need.”

Mrs Martin will also be joined by Hollie Johnson-Tart, Assurance Manager and Sacha Hamon, Assurance Assistant Manager, who have both recently been promoted at EY, to candidly share how their career action plans have helped them to succeed.

WDF founder, Michelle Johansen, said: "At WDF, our mission is to inspire female potential. I think this event is an important one in our calendar, especially for our younger members, as identifying the next key step can make all the difference when it comes to getting that promotion. I'm particularly keen that we also look at how to build resilience, as having the ability to cope with setbacks is a vital part of the process."

The meeting will also re-visit the career goals and action cards which members of the audience completed at last Octobers event. For those who completed their plans, these will be posted back in time for the meeting, where the goals achieved and actions taken will be reflected upon, as well as taking a look at how failure can be used to as motivation and help build resilience.
