Islanders can get up close and personal with the latest in 3D printing, facial recognition software and motion controlled devices at the biggest open technology event in the Channel Islands next month.

Digital Jersey and the British Computer Society are running Jersey’s Tech Fair at the Pomme d’Or Hotel on Saturday 8th November from 10 am to 4 pm.

The event isn’t just for experts or the tech-savvy - organisers say that there will be demonstrations of the latest kit, talks by experts, coding workshops, and special sessions for the old and the young about how to get more out of technology.

There will also be sessions and demonstrations on the subjects of Bitcoin, digital parenting, augmented illusions and drones.

The event is free to enter.

Digital Jersey director Carla Harris said: “It is a great opportunity to educate and inspire the community in an interactive, fun and informative way.

“Technology is part of our everyday lives and for some, a tool used on a regular basis or a skill that comes naturally. For others it is feared or unknown territory. We hope that this event will appeal to everyone.”

Ronnie Isherwood, Chairman at BCS Jersey said: “The Jersey Tech Fair will provide people with access to some of the more interesting work and new technology in use in the island at the moment.

“It is also a great opportunity for students and parents thinking about technology careers and courses, to engage with local technologists at an informal event. For technologists and innovators, it is an opportunity to come together and share their ideas and interests.”
