A 22-year-old man who was found with drugs in his jacket by police officers making a routine check of Les Creux Country Park late on New Year’s Day has been fined £800.
On Friday, the Magistrate’s Court was told that around 22:00, officers spotted a parked car without any lights switched on in the car park and went to investigate. There were two men inside.
Both the driver, and the passenger - Benjamin Le Huquet - were searched by the Police, and nothing was found.
Officers then noticed a dark blue jacket belonging to Mr Le Huquet in the car. When they searched it, they found 19.16 grams of cannabis. The next day, Police searched Mr Le Huquet’s home and found a single ecstasy ‘ghost pill'.
In mitigation, the Court was told Mr Le Huquet had quit taking drugs, had no previous convictions, had been co-operative, and had pleaded guilty very early on.
