Police hunt mystery parking vandal

It can be frustrating if someone takes your parking space...but Police believe someone is letting their frustration boil over following £10,000 of damage to cars in the Le Pouquelaye area.

There have been 29 separate incidents of vandalism on vehicles reported in recent months, particularly in Le Clos de Debénaire, Le Hurel, and Normond Avenue.

The police believe the vandal is a local resident, because the incidents have been so close together, and they think it may be someone who is frustrated with local parking arrangements. 

Police are carrying out house-to-house enquiries, have done a leaflet drop, as well as "covert" investigations.

“This may relate to private road parking disputes,” Inspector Tim Barnes, of the Community Police team, said. “The high-level of anti-social behaviour within the immediate area of La Pouquelaye is unacceptable and not least costly to owners of vehicles that are damaged.”

Towards the end of 2016 Express reported an incident in which it’s believed vandals used a key to scratch three parked cars on Boxing Day. The cars were parked outside the Centre Point Trust building on Le Hurel. 

Police are uncertain as to whether there’s one vandal or several, and are asking residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
