Blazing sunshine made Jersey among the hottest places in the British Isles yesterday, but things are expected to drop to 21 degrees today.

Yesterday’s temperature of 25.2 degrees was just a single degree off the hottest April since records began in 1894.

But you shouldn’t expect it to stay like this – a shift in the wind is going to bring in cooler temperatures, with Friday and the weekend expected to be between 14 and 16 degrees, and a little blowy.

Duty Forecaster Peter Munns said: “The highest ever April temperature is 26.2 degrees, yesterday is going to go down as one of the highest daily maximum temperatures for April.

“Today will have a much cooler feel. The temperature will be a maximum of 21 degrees, and then as we go into Friday the wind will pick up from the north easterly direction, bringing much cooler air, and temperatures will range from 14 to 16 degrees for Friday and the weekend.”

He added that the weekend would stay dry, but that anyone planning to enjoy the sun would have to find a sheltered spot out of the wind…
