VIDEO: Sixty seasonal Santas set off through St Helier

Thursday 08 December 2016

If you were mown down by sixty Santas running through St Helier this lunchtime, don't worry, the egg nog wasn't playing tricks with your eyes.

It was the annual 'Santa Dash' organised by Jersey Hospice, and designed to get St Helier in the festive spirit, as well as to raise some money for a very worthy cause.

The sixty Santas all paid £10 to take part, and many added to that with their own donations. Next it was a warm-up, led by personal trainer Ben Murray from Box In Business:

And then they were ready to 'dash', with the route taking them out of Liberty Wharf, along Conway Street, down Broad Street, through Charing Cross, and then back down Castle Street to Liberty Wharf, entertaining the people on the streets of town on the way.

And what's more, they got to keep the Santa suit at the end...should come in handy in a few week's time.

The Community & Events coordinator for Jersey Hospice, Marina Brockbank commented:

"We had over 60 Santas dashing through town raising vital funds for Jersey Hospice Care. It was a great fun factor event which brought Christmas cheer to the community! The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic and we are already looking forward to next year!"
