No half term heatwave - but watch the UV Index

Friday 22 May 2015

The half-term weather won’t be hotting up enough to break any records next week but experts say you’ll still need to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun.

Jersey Met say the UV is getting stronger even though it will be feeling quite cool next week.

Duty Forecaster Peter Munns said: “On Bank Holiday Monday we can expect winds from a north, north-west direction, light to moderate so it’ll be fair to cloudy with some sunny intervals, max of 16, so if you are sitting in a sheltered spot it could feel very nice indeed.”

“A max of 15 on Tuesday, three degrees below average – we’re unlikely to get 'above' temperatures, it should be relatively dry with a mix of sunshine and cloud, that covers the bulk of next week.

“The UV is regularly getting to about 6 – that’s the ‘let’s take care category’ and could touch into 7 so take care out in the sun.”
