Thai murders – a week on, and no arrests

Monday 22 September 2014

A week after the brutal murders of Jerseyman David Miller (24) and Hannah Witheridge (25) on a Thai beach, police investigators say they do not know how many suspects they are looking for.

Although there have been various theories about the murders, the Thai police do not appear much closer to finding the killers, although there were reports in the Sunday Times that officers hope DNA tests on a cigarette end found yards from the bodies could provide a lead.

They have confirmed that they think more than one person was responsible.

The body of Miss Witheridge has been flown back to her home in Norfolk.

Her family released a statement saying: “As a family we feel enormous relief to have Hannah back at home where she belongs.

“We continue to work closely with officers to assist in the investigation and bring those responsible to justice.

“Our family is broken and require time to grieve in private – as do Hannah’s many friends.”
