The firm says this is in support of flexible working and prioritising employee wellbeing.

“We’re all about experimenting with different ways of working like flexible hours and remote working,” explained Marc Beavan, co-founder of Cortex.

“A four-day workweek makes sense for a lot of reasons. Originally, we wanted to give the team more time for personal projects or development but we quickly realised that work-life balance is just as important, so we also encourage them to soak up the sun and enjoy the Guernsey summer.”

Co-founder Matt Thornton added: “As a small company, we need to find innovative ways to differentiate ourselves from competitors in the market.

“We’re fiercely protective of our culture and values and this is a firm commitment to that. Moreover, we’ve had a busy year, and the rest of the year isn’t looking any quieter, so we’re all looking forward to a bit of extra time with our families and friends and taking a few moments to recharge.”

Throughout the rest of August, Cortex Technologies  will operate from Monday to Thursday with the office closed on Fridays. Existing support processes and out-of-hours covers will be extended.

The firm says employees will not experience any reduction in holiday entitlement or pay as a result of the shorter workweek.
