A man with short, curly dark hair and a neat beard is seated indoors in a modern office setting. He is wearing a dark green and navy plaid button‑up shirt with a small embroidered logo on the chest. Behind him are office furnishings, including shelving units, a wheeled office chair, and a carpeted floor with green and grey sections.

The Channel Islands branch of a Public Relations institute has appointed a new chair as well as two new committee members.

Guernsey-based Dan Gallienne has been made chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) in the Channel Islands, succeeding Alex Mallinson after two years.

Mr Gallienne, who is Head of Client Services at Orchard PR, has more than a decade of experience in the industry and has served on the local committee sine 2018.

Mr Gallienne said news was “changing all the time”, so it had “never been more important that the PR profession has strong representation and a solid ethical foundation”.

He was keen to expand the group’s membership, he said.

“We’re open to anyone who works in or with communications, the media or marketing – and want as many people as possible to get involved,” he added.

Guernsey and Jersey members

Alec Farrell from Guernsey and Jersey-based Katie Sharman have also joined the committee.

Mr Farrell joined Guernsey PR firm Black Vanilla in 2023, after graduating with a degree in sports journalism.

Ms Sharman has six years’ experience, with the last five working for the Government of Jersey, including during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Gallienne welcomed the new committee members, as well as praising the work of the outgoing members and chair.

“We’re in a strong position to build on and I’m excited by what we’ve got planned,” he added.
