Construction firm Ashbe has made a number of appointments across its team and secured a silver accreditation by the Carbon Literacy Project.
Ashbe described 2024 as a “significant year of growth” with the addition of two senior team members.
Chris Kent was appointed as a Director, bringing 30 years of experience in the industry.
He holds Chartered Membership of the CIOB in Construction Management and works with all site aspects of the construction phase, liaising with both clients and design teams.
Meanwhile, Simon Smith has joined the team as a Construction Manager.
He has 27 years of experience, starting as a land surveyor in Wales before becoming a site setting out engineer with Sir Robert McAlpine.
Mr Smith manages several larger projects at Ashbe.
The firm added that it has made further appointments in its operations and administration departments.

Ben Cairney, Managing Director of Ashbe, said the appointments “add further strength” to the team.
“We have a highly skilled team of in-house tradesmen, and pride ourselves on delivering exceptional craftsmanship,” he added.
“We believe in supporting the local economy, sourcing materials and services locally wherever possible, reinvesting in our communities, and ensuring that our attention to detail delivers the highest quality projects that can be enjoyed by our clients and our community for many years to come.”
Ashbe also announced that its carbon literate status has been upgraded from bronze to silver by the Carbon Literacy Project.
Moving up a tier, Ashbe explained, requires increasing levels of commitment to action on climate change and creating a low-carbon culture.
Louise Eden, Sustainability Manager at Ashbe noted that the construction industry is a “huge contributor to global emissions”.
“This Silver accreditation reflects the company’s dedication to progressing their low carbon journey,” she said.
“This includes developing a sustainability strategy, adjusting working practices, maintaining a lower-carbon culture and training its management workforce on the impact of climate change.”
