The 72-seat aircraft arrived in Jersey last week from East Midlands Airport where it was fitted in Blue Islands’ livery, and has already started flying passengers.
All five aircraft in Blue Islands’ fleet are now ATR-72s.
CEO Rob Veron said the addition of the new plane “demonstrates Blue Islands’ commitment to providing year-round, sustainable connectivity and socio-economic benefits for the island.”
He added: “It also underpins our positive but measured approach to growth as we emerge from the difficult market conditions caused by the pandemic over the past two years.”
He went on to note that the ATR fleet are “powered by efficient turboprop engines” and produce “the lowest emissions per seat” in their class, and that “…our partnership with Durrell’s Rewild Carbon programme, a world-leading initiative run from Jersey, enables us (by offsetting) to make all of our flight’s Carbon Neutral and genuinely sustainable.”
