Keynote: The real-world ramifications of the General Data Protection Regulation
Calligo’s CEO and co-founder Julian Box commented: “From our point of view it’s partly about education, as when we started, we didn’t feel ‘cloud’ was well understood in the CI. And now with all the changes in data protection laws, data residency and so forth, the conference is focussing heavily on what people should be doing in terms of data protection, as its changing beyond any recognition, and we’ve covered all the different bases, insurance policies to the EU/US Privacy Shield which gets quoted a lot – but the CI aren’t signatories, so what does it actually mean for people?
“People will walk away today knowing a lot more about how important looking after data has become, and what changes are coming in terms of your responsibilities as a Board of Directors, and as a business, and people will have a much clearer idea of what that’s going to be, and what could happen if you don’t do it right.”
