The team of around 40 has moved from the La Pouquelaye site they have occupied since 1988 – and their first Channel Report broadcast from the new studio goes out tonight.

The project took eight months – and engineers laid more than 40 km of cable, which is enough to stretch from St Helier to St Peter Port.

ITV Channel Television’s Managing Director Karen Rankine said: “Moving the entire Jersey operation to the Waterfront has been an enormous undertaking that has involved many months of planning and realisation.

“Our investment in the latest technology will help us to deliver an even better service to ITV viewers in the Channel Islands.”

The broadcast system was designed and installed by global specialists Television Systems Ltd working with Channel’s own engineers and it has a capacity of 148 Terabytes of online media storage.

The new studio set has been designed with a backdrop displayed across five 80-inch screens and state of the art LED lighting has reduced studio power consumption by 50%.
