The Jersey Data Protection Authority has appointed a new voting member to serve as chair of its audit and risk committee.
Chartered accountant and chartered director Tom Noel was selected following a “comprehensive recruitment process”. He replaces Helen Hatton, whose term expired earlier this year.
The JDPA said he has a “wealth of knowledge and experience gained both locally and abroad”.
Mr Noel leads his own business Accelerate Consulting, which specialises in commercial growth and leadership.
He has also held leadership roles across a range of organisations including JT, the JSPCA, and the Institute of Directors.
JDPA chair Elizabeth Denham CBE said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom Noel to our board.
“His deep understanding of both industry operations and public service will be invaluable as we tackle the complex technological and social challenges facing Jersey and beyond.
“I look forward to working closely with him and benefitting from his local and global insights as we carry out our mission to protect information rights in Jersey.”
Mr Noel added: “I’m very pleased to be joining the Jersey Data Protection Authority as a voting member.
“As a proud Jerseyman, I look forward to supporting its mission to safeguard islanders, particularly in areas close to my heart such as children’s privacy, the responsible use of AI, and strengthening cybersecurity.
“These are critical issues for our community today, and I look forward to contributing to this important work.”
