Dominic Boletta, who works as a Conveyancer at local law firm Carey Olsen, has bought the mobile surf school with his wife, Nuala, with the intention of keeping the business in the family.

Although Dominic described the move as “something completely different”, he is no stranger to the waves. As a keen surfer and former Chairman of the British Surfing Association, Dominic has been involved with the school for 30 years, including being a surf teacher at the Watersplash when he was 16. Dominic also used to be the President of the Jersey Surfboard Club as well as being an Executive Member of the European Surfing Federation.

The couple bought the school from previous owners, Neil Dorrington and Dee Battye, with the intention of passing it down to their ten-year-old son, Oli.

Commenting on the purchase, Dominic said: “I’ve been involved with the school for 30 years, but I’ve never had business in the surfing world. Nuala and I thought it would be a good investment for our ten-year-old son, Oli, so that the business can stay in the family for many years to come. We really want to grow on what’s already been done by Neil and Dee and hopefully it will just go from strength to strength.”

Due to his day-job, Dominic won’t be taking an active role in the business, but he intends on spending weekends down at the school.
