The home opened in 1977 and £5 million has been invested in improving and securing the facilities for the future with a full renewal of all living and communal areas. The 50 residents now have more comfortable living facilities including en-suite bathrooms, which are vital for their comfort and well-being.
At the opening ceremony, Mr Pallett particularly thanked Barclays Bank for its support throughout the project and for a loan which, he said, had been pivotal in completing the work.
Mr Pallet,said: “Maison St Brelade has a proud history but after 25 years it was necessary to renew the facilities and ensure that our residents have the best possible care. This project would not have happened without the support of the Barclays team and we are looking forward to working with them on volunteering projects in the future.”
Denis Tulip, vice president of Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, and Barclays’ project lead for the development, said: “We plan to continue our relationship and to provide assistance in other ways. Volunteers from the bank will be involved in other forms of support, for example we are hoping to help with planting gardens and building a squirrel run around the perimeter. It was an honour to attend the open day and to see three years of hard work come to fruition.”
