Economic commentator Geoffrey Yu will give an insight into trade disputes with a focus on the current dispute between the US and China at an event entitled ‘Trade Wars – Seeing the Wood for the Trees’.
Mr Yu, a regular commentator on Bloomberg and CNBC, is an Executive Director and Head of the UK Investment Office and an Ultra High Net Worth Investment Strategist for UBS Wealth Management.
He will not only discuss the gravity of the USA-China friction, but also how it affects the balance of global economic power and the battle for tech dominance as a response to global megatrends such as population growth, urbanisation and the changing investment landscape.
Chris Clark, IoD Jersey Chairman, said: “I am very grateful to Geoffrey for coming to the Island to deliver this presentation to our IoD Jersey audience. It’s an incredible topic and one which I know will be well received by our financial services members and beyond. It’s very important in a small island that we don’t think on an insular level and instead look at the bigger picture and I think Geoffrey’s knowledge of USA and China markets will be invaluable.
“The battle for the ownership of key technologies to unlock prosperity and global power is very real and I think it will raise some vital questions from our audience at the lunch.”
The lunch titled will take place at the Grand Jersey Hotel and Spa on 26 February at 12:00.
