‘Lockdown Babies’ is a podcast series documenting the stories of the families who had babies during the pandemic

It’s been two years since pregnant women across England were ordered to stay at home for 3 months and to isolate. The weeks and months that followed saw everything from expectant mothers giving birth alone, to tiny newborns being shut away from the world, and families left without adequate postpartum care and support. Former Guernsey resident and BBC World Service newsreader Phillippa Guillou has been gathering the stories of how these ‘Lockdown Babies’ came into the world and the lasting impact felt by their families.

The podcast features stories from Guernsey mums who say their experience was made even more difficult due to the island’s strict border restrictions at the height of the pandemic.

“My family missed my whole pregnancy because they’re in Guernsey which was essentially shut off from the world. The emotional impact of that was great. I just felt quite desperate.” – Jenna Topham

‘Lockdown Babies’ launches on Wednesday 16th March, exactly two years since pregnant women were told to isolate and is produced by OG Podcasts: https://ogpodcasts.co.uk/
