This Halloween, Guernsey Museums invites visitors to step into a world of myths, monsters and magical fun, with a packed programme of half term activities from 27-31 October 2025.
From eerie trails and creepy crafts to monster movies and mythical beasts, there’s something for everyone at both Castle Cornet and the Guernsey Museum at Candie.
At Castle Cornet, visitors can take part in Haunted Castle Crafts in the Activity Tower and follow a Pumpkin Trail around the historic castle.
Meanwhile, at Guernsey Museum at Candie, visitors can explore the Pumpkin Pouque Trail around Candie Gardens and take on the ‘Halloween 13’ History Trail, uncovering gruesome and grisly tales from the past. Each morning at 10:30am, the museum’s Frossard Theatre will screen a ‘Monster Movie’, included as part of standard museum admission. Visitors can find out which film is showing by calling 226518 or emailing museums@gov.gg (no pre- booking required).
There will be even more frightful fun on Friday 31st October with Freaky Friday: Bailiwick Beasts at Guernsey Museum. This special Halloween event explores the myths, legends and creatures of the Bailiwick, from witches and werewolves to dragons and local superstitions.
Visitors can get hands-on with Franken-Arts and Crafts in an immersive lab, make phoenix eggs, create bat crafts or join the sensory Witches Assistant Station at the Priaulx Library.
There will be an opportunity to meet real goats and discover their role in local folklore, encounter a wise woman with rabbit crafts, and learn about the mysterious Budloe Beasts that haunt island legends.
Museum visitors are invited to follow the Spider Trail, marvel at ‘freaky fossils’, peek at the museum’s taxidermy, and spot surprising creatures in a Halloween Lego scene. Plus, they can enjoy special performances of Guernsey Folklore Living History at 11:00am and 3:00pm at the Priaulx Library, or join the Autism Friendly Craft Hour at 3:30pm, before a relaxed, Autism Friendly screening of ‘Room on the Broom’ (U, 26 mins) at 4:30pm.
Activities are subject to change, but a frightfully fun day is guaranteed for all ages.
Helen Glencross, Head of Culture & Heritage Services, said: “Our Halloween programme presents a chance for visitors to explore our sites in a different light; through the myths, legends and folklore that make the Bailiwick so unique. From creative crafts and spooky trails to folklore performances and films, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We love seeing visitors of all ages getting into the spirit and discovering the stories that have been part of our island’s imagination for generations. For best value, I’d encourage adults to consider purchasing a Discovery Pass, which gives them unlimited access to Guernsey Museums sites for twelve months, plus accompanying children go free.”
