Dan Pateman, the acting head teacher of Victoria College Preparatory School, has been confirmed in the role on a permanent basis.

Mr Pateman taught at VCP from 1999 to 2006 and returned in 2016. He has also taught at Rouge Bouillon and St Luke’s primary schools

Mr Pateman said: “VCP is a unique school in Jersey. The boys, staff and parents here are fantastic and it’s an enthusiastic and positive learning environment where the boys relish exploring new ideas and are keen to be the best they can. Becoming head teacher here is an exciting opportunity and I am thrilled to take on the challenge of leading such a forward thinking, successful school.”

Brian Watt, Chair of the Victoria College Board of Governors, said: “With 18 years teaching experience, gained in a variety of schools, Dan has recently played a pivotal role in the development of a new strategic vision for Victoria College and Victoria College Preparatory School. This will further strengthen the links between the two schools and Dan will play a leading role in the delivery of the new strategy, which will introduce a core culture of continuous improvement in all areas of the school’s performance.”

Education Minister Deputy Rod Bryans said: “Mr Pateman’s passion for the school is immediately obvious. He has high aspirations for his pupils and a vision for delivering a high quality education that is firmly based on the school’s core values of resilience, resourcefulness and respect. I am delighted he will lead VCP and wish him every success.”
