Battle of Jersey Walk & Re-Enactment

What's it about?

Battle of Jersey Walk & Re-Enactment

Joining: No need to book, just meet at St Peter's Church 8.30 for 9.00 a.m. departure. St Peter's Parish has allocated their overflow carpark for your use, located on the inner side of the cemetery from the main road. Please display a notice stating "Battle of Jersey - Participant" and place it inside the front window of your vehicle.

Cost: Like last year there will be a £5 fee to cover insurance which will be collected before departure.

The route to St Helier: In 1771 the roads were little more than dirt tracks and after rain became almost impassable. Today we are more fortunate as all our roads are tarmacked, both major and minor! However, today roads carry much traffic and are a lot more dangerous. Therefore the dress for the walk should be highly visible, rain-proof and with appropriate footwear. We expect to arrive at St Helier Parish Hall at approximately 11.45 a.m. where we will meet Connetable Simon Crowqcroft, 1781 Militia and Band, with whom we will march into the Royal Square.

Reception: Following the main event and re-enactment in the Royal Square, our group will join the column and return to St Helier Parish Hall where a light buffet will be available for participants.
