20 local and international university students and school leavers have joined Deloitte's Jersey and Guernsey offices.

The firm says the group has already started client work across tax and audit sectors, as they commence their training contracts or graduate schemes.

The students come to Deloitte from a variety of different academic backgrounds.

Joining the Audit and Assurance team in Jersey are Tom Marshall (Chemistry at the University of Warwick), Thomas Fowle (Politics at the University of Exeter), Max Renouf-Watkins (Economics at Swansea University), and Liam O’Sullivan (Music Technology at the University of West London).

Jersey school leaver Teresa Mascarenhas, who recently completed her A Levels at Hautlieu School, is joining the firm's BrightStart Apprenticeship Scheme.

Stefan Sindie (Bachelor of Commerce, Global Experience at NUI Galway) and Caitlin Atherton (Business Management at the University of Surrey) are joining for a one-year industrial placement before returning to university to complete their studies.

John Clacy, Partner in charge of Deloitte in the Channel Islands, said: "We are delighted to welcome such a large group of young people to our Channel Island offices this year, despite the challenges everyone has faced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Professional services have a significant role to play in the global economic recovery and we look forward to supporting these trainees as they tackle the challenges ahead."
