New island-wide business survey launched

Tuesday 21 March 2023

A new structural business survey has got underway this week to replace two previous initiatives.

Statistics Jersey has launched the 2023 Annual Business Survey (ABS), which takes the place of the old Annual Business Survey and the Survey of Financial Institutions.

The new ABS seeks to collect financial data from businesses' end-year accounts, including turnover, wages and salaries, purchases of goods and services, stocks and capital expenditure.

The data will be used in the completion of Jersey's national accounts measures and trade statistics.

Businesses of all sizes have been selected to complete the survey to ensure statistics are representative of the Jersey economy, including smaller businesses which are selected through a random selection process.

Once selected, each business is legally obliged to comply and return a survey form by 31st July 2023.
