Offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services provider Appleby organised a charity initiative across its global offices to raise money for victims of the back-to-back earthquakes that have killed more than 8,500 people in Nepal.
Staff members in each of the firm’s 11 offices were encouraged to participate in a fund-raising day. The Jersey office organised a bottle raffle and a curry kitchen raising £1,254.54 for the cause. The initiative globally raised $15,400, with the Partners providing a further $5,000 donation.
“The earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks in Nepal have devastated the lives of millions, damaging major cities and cutting off rural areas near the epicentre,” said Frances Woo, Appleby’s Group Chairman. “In the face of such disasters, time is of the essence, and I am proud to work alongside colleagues that were willing to move quickly to help raise funds for those desperately in need of our help.”
The funds raised by Appleby were donated to the Disaster Emergency Committee.
