Monday 02 February 2015

Local airline Blue Islands have appointed Swissport as their new ground handling partner. Swissport are the world’s largest ground handling provider serving around 224 million passengers each year and employing over 55,000 staff.

This appointment follows Aurigny’s decision to close their Jersey handling operation, due to a change in airport traffic numbers using their services.

Blue Islands’ Managing Director Rob Veron said: “Swissport is the world's largest professional, longstanding specialist ground handling agent with a global presence. Our shared focus on an exceptional customer experience will prove a great benefit to all passengers travelling though our Jersey base. We look forward to offering this service to our customers in the coming weeks.”

A Swissport spokesman, said: “We are extremely proud of our service record and the strong relationship we have developed with Blue Islands over a number of years. We are all delighted that our high performance and strong value proposition have been recognised and that the partnership is now set to be extended in Jersey.”
Swissport will be looking after the ground handling requirements for all Blue Islands flights from 2 March 2015.
