Brooks Macdonald raise £30,000 through Jersey Island Walk

Wednesday 28 June 2017

Around 60 members of staff from across Brooks Macdonald have raised more than £30,000 for charity by taking on this year’s State Street Island Walk.

Around 1,000 people took part in the 48.1 mile walk around Jersey, which is organised and managed by Rotary Club de la Manche and regularly raises more than £100,000 each year. It has been attempted by more than 20,000 people and has raised a total in excess of two million pounds for charitable organisations since it was established in 1991.

Through a combination of relay teams as well as more than 20 individual walkers from nine of the firm’s offices across England and Scotland as well as 14 walkers from its Jersey and Guernsey offices took part in this year's challenge.

A grand total of £30,000 was raised as a result of their participation and combined fundraising efforts, together with ‘matched giving’ through the Brooks Macdonald Foundation. This funds will be split between the walk’s nominated charities and the firm’s chosen charity ‘United Through Sport’, which aims to enrich the lives and education of disadvantaged children in South Africa through sports coaching.

Tim Dallas-Chapman, Director of Investment Management, Brooks Macdonald International, said: “Our staff really embraced this fantastic event this year. To have so many colleagues come to Jersey from all over the UK to take on the walk, experience Jersey’s beautiful scenery and most importantly raise a significant sum for charity is a tremendous and genuinely firm-wide effort.”

Those staff participating this year came from Brooks Macdonald’s offices in Guernsey, Jersey, London, Edinburgh, York, Hampshire, Manchester, Hale and Leamington Spa.
