Keen runners in Jersey still have time to enter the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Corporate Cup race series which starts on 15 April.
The Corporate Cup is a 5km lunch time race series, organised by Run Jersey, aimed at all businesses based in Jersey.
The series launched last year with 38 business teams competing. The Deutsche Bank Dashers C team took first place in the men’s competition, the Deloitte 1 team took first place in the women’s competition and the Salty Seales from Saltgate Ltd dominated in the mixed competition.
This year the race is also open to individual entrants as well as business teams. All team members will be automatically entered to compete for the individual men’s and individual ladies cup.
Also for the first time, Race Nation will be providing real-time race tracking with chip timing for each runner.
The races will take place on the third Wednesday of the month throughout the summer. Each race will start from the Freedom Tree alongside the Radisson Blu at 12:45 pm and the first race will take place on 15 April.
The event will be split into three categories; Men’s, Ladies’ and mixed with a Corporate Cup Trophy to be won in each. The best three races count towards the overall standings. There will be prizes for individual performances as well as other categories such as the most improved team.
Teams will be made up of four people (mixed teams must include at least two female runners) from the same company and they will be able to substitute runners to cover for sickness or annual leave.
“The Corporate Cup promotes running as a healthy and enjoyable activity for everyone and is a fun but competitive team building exercise. The races appeal to both competitive runners and novices alike and gives everyone the chance to do something active during their lunch break,” said Digby Ellis – Brecknell, Race Director and Endurance Events Organiser for Run Jersey.
“This monthly challenge will bring about an exciting change to the work day with a little bit of healthy competition between businesses thrown in for good measure. We are very grateful to Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management for their sponsorship of this event.”
The races will take place on 15 April, 20 May, 17 June, 8 July, 19 August and 16 September.
