Businesses urged to comply with data protection ahead of Brexit

Local data protection company, PropelFwd, is urging local businesses to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as the UK prepares to leave the EU.

Companies will need to review their data protection policies in the event of a deal or no deal Brexit scenario, PropelFwd has said.

“Jersey companies should make sure they are up to date with GDPR requirements as we approach Brexit," Paul Byrne, CEO of PropelFwd, reminded. "If you process personal data on individuals in the EU it is likely you should appoint a representative in one of the member states which you are offering goods and services to.

“It is important to help small local businesses navigate their way through these fast moving and changeable times in the light of Brexit. We are well poised to offer training and advice so that businesses are clear about what they need to do to be compliant.”
