Standard Bank Offshore Group has appointed a professional with three decades of experience in IT as its new Chief Information Officer.

Over the course of his career, Michael Boarer has led IT and Change teams in banking, telecommunications, logistics and trust.

In his new role, he will report directly to Chief Executive Will Thorp and joins the Executive Committee.

“I am delighted to be joining an organisation so focussed on client centricity and on becoming truly digital," Mr Boarer said. "Technology, now more than ever, poses challenges as well as opportunities across all industries.

"I look forward to working with those in the organisation as well as our solution providers to ensure we have the infrastructure in place to make the most of the opportunities ahead."

Mr Thorp added: “Investing and ensuring we future-proof core technologies are critical to our operations as well as our vision and ambitions for 2020 and beyond. Michael has the expertise, experience and leadership attributes we need to drive our business forward. I am thrilled that he has joined the team.”
