Family lawyer joins Corbett Le Quesne

Tuesday 17 May 2022

Corbett Le Quesne has welcomed a new family lawyer to its team.

Kate Donohue qualified as an English solicitor in 2009, going on to work in the UK and rising to regional head of the Family Law department at Simpson Millar.

She later qualified as an English Barrister in 2017 and is ranked as a Leading Junior Counsel by the prestigious Legal 500.

Ms Donohue fell in love with Jersey on holidays to the island and, as a result, left Manchester where she is a tenant at 18 St John Street Chambers to live on the island.

She plans to qualify locally and is currently studying towards her Jersey Advocates’ Exams. In 2021 she received the Family Law Award for achieving the highest marks in the Jersey Law Course Examinations.

Advocate Barbara Corbett commented: “We are very pleased to announce that Kate is now part of our team. She is a highly experienced family lawyer who will be an excellent addition to the firm able to provide advice and assistance to clients in all areas of family law. Kate is very approachable and friendly and shares our commitment to helping clients reach solutions to their problems in an amicable and holistic way, avoiding conflict wherever possible”.

Ms Donohue regularly acts for high net worth clients involving complex financial matters. She also advises on general family matters, children, judicial separation and dissolution of civil partnerships. She has also dealt with international matters including tracing spouses, foreign marriages and divorces.

Ms Donohue added: “I have known Barbara and Nick for some time and I am looking forward to working with them. We are all passionate about what we do and having the same ethos makes a huge difference to a working environment. I am looking forward to qualifying as a Jersey Advocate and being able to return to regular court work soon.”
