Hand Picked Hotels are underlining their confidence in the island’s tourism industry with an ongoing refurbishment programme at both the AA five star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and the AA silver four star L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa.
On completion of the extensive programme at the two properties, the total amount invested will be in the region of £2.4 million, and both properties will fully reflect the Hand Picked Hotels ethos to provide unique getaways where guests can expect a superb level of comfort and service.
Over the last few months both hotels have undergone a range of behind the scenes improvements including the installation of new bathrooms in over 50 rooms at the L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa. £1.4 million has been spent on refurbishing 55 bedrooms and adjacent corridors at the beachside property, in addition to improving and updating the breakfast buffet and Rose Lounge public areas.
Discussing the latest phase of enhancements Simon Miller, General Manager of L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa, said: “The Hand Picked Hotels board has been extremely supportive in committing these funds, ensuring the hotel facilities undergo ongoing enhancement in order that the overall quality of our offering continues to meet, and indeed exceed our guest’s expectations.
"This is particularly important given the high standard of hotel bedroom stock in the 4 and 5 star Jersey market. I am confident that the improvements we have completed to date, and have planned for the remainder of 2016, will ensure that L’Horizon continues to maintain its enviable reputation as the island’s leading 4 star resort hotel.”
The latest improvements complement an extensive redevelopment of the Spa at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa in 2014, which saw an investment of over £800,000 to completely revitalize the offering. The Spa now comprises five single and one double treatment room, a manicure and pedicure area, a relaxation room, and a sleep room - believed to be the only one of its kind in the island. Alongside this the gym area was also extended and improved.
St Helier’s Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa is also continuing its refurbishment programme as the all important spring season approaches. 60 of the 123 guest bedrooms and bathrooms will be updated. The renewal of all soft furnishings, featuring vibrant colours and a range of textures will result in a sophisticated and contemporary transformation.
Many of the more functional elements of the property have also been improved including the installation of new kitchen equipment including ovens and dishwasher and a brand new kitchen area has been fitted on the Terrace to allow for an enhanced al fresco dining experience.
Martin Kelly, General Manager of Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, said: “Since the purchase of Grand Jersey in 2014 there has been substantial on-going investment in the property. Although much of this has been behind the scenes, it has been vital for the upkeep of the building, for example the installation of new boilers and dishwashers. Whilst these are by no means the exciting side of refurbishment, they are crucial pieces of equipment. We are now pleased to be progressing to the more public areas of the hotel such as guest bedrooms, lobby, the health club and bar. These refurbishments demonstrate the confidence and commitment that the Hand Picked Group has to Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and to the hospitality industry in the Island.”
