Wednesday 18 May 2022

The UK Cyber Security Council has welcomed CERT.JE as a new member.

CERT.JE is Jersey's dedicated cybersecurity centre and is responsible for promoting and improving resilience among island businesses and organisations, readying them for emergencies.

As a member of the UK Cyber Security Council. CERT.JE will be involved in joint work on initiatives to respond and prepare for new cyber threats.

“We are delighted to welcome CERT.JE as a member of the Council as we move forward with our core work within the industry," Simon Hepburn, CEO of the UK Cyber Security Council, said.

"Their decision to join the Council and to help strengthen our efforts in the cyber security space highlights the importance of what we are trying to achieve in our core work areas of standards and ethics, careers and learning and diversity and inclusion in cyber security.”

CERT.JE Director Matt Palmer (pictured top) commented: “As a small jurisdiction with a significant and well-regulated financial services industry we have unique challenges and opportunities that we can best respond to by working closely with UK and international partners.

“Nurturing our Island’s talent to develop a capable and ethical cyber security profession will be essential if we are to fight back effectively against the growing challenge of cyber crime and protect our economy and wellbeing from tomorrow’s threats."

He continued: “The creation of both the UK Cyber Security Council and Jersey’s CERT represents strong steps forward for both the cyber security profession and the defence of our communities, and we are looking forward to working together with our partners to lead on common challenges that impact the UK, the Crown Dependencies and the Island of Jersey.”
