JT recruitment drive

Monday 24 February 2014

Telecoms provider JT has career opportunities within its 2014 Young Talent Programme, to meet growing customer requirements both in Jersey and overseas

Once the 12 positions have been filled it will take the number of students in the programme to 30. The jobs include: apprenticeships for school leavers, bursaries for undergraduates and graduate trainee positions.

Group HR Director Richard Summerfield said the vacancies reflected the growing confidence in the local economy and the success of JT’s growth strategy.

“This is the highest number we have ever offered at any one time, and will bring JT’s workforce to its largest level in our history, going back more than a century. We offer long-term career opportunities for those with the drive and ambition to support us in our vision to be the partner of choice for global telecoms innovation,” he said.

The JT Group and its subsidiaries now employs 615 people Worldwide, of which 74% (456 people) are in Jersey, which is an increase in Jersey of 14% since 2009, and takes the group to its largest headcount to date. That increase reflects the growth of the group's revenues generally, which has expanded by two thirds in the last four years.

Since launching the Young Talent Programme in 2010, graduates have had the opportunity to move around the world within the JT Group. One of them has now completed the programme and moved within the JT Group to the offices of its subsidiary, Worldstone, in London as Off-Island HR Advisor. Another has moved to the JT office in Melbourne for nine months, while a third is going to Boston for a six-month secondment with ekit.

The group also supports seven bursary students who are currently studying at University, and in the holidays gain work experience across the JT business from working in the call centre, retail store, wholesale division, and finance to the Gigabit programme.

Applications for the JT Training Schemes close in March. The details can be found at: http://www.jtglobal.com/Global/Global-Landing-Page/Careers/
