Law Society announces Junior Lawyer of the Year

Thursday 08 February 2018

The Law Society of Jersey has named Daniel Read, as the winner of its Junior Lawyer of the Year Award 2017.

Mr Read, who qualified as a Jersey Advocate in November 2016, is a Senior Associate at Ogier, within their Dispute Resolution and Employment Law team.

The Junior Lawyer of the Year award recognises excellence amongst members of The Law Society of Jersey who have been qualified for less than three years. It is awarded on nomination to the Law Society Committee which considers the contribution of nominees to the legal profession, jurisprudence or innovation in the provision of legal services in Jersey, the nominee’s firm or the local community.

Advocate John Kelleher, President of The Law Society of Jersey, said: “It is important that we encourage and support the junior members of our profession and recognise those who stand out. Having excelled in the qualifying advocacy examinations (gaining top marks in four out of seven exams), Daniel has, since then, made a material impact in his practice area across a broad range of complex employment matters, in addition to which he has provided free employment advice to several local charities and delivered advocacy training for aspiring lawyers from a number of local secondary schools.”
