Channel Islands Lloyds Foundation appoints new Trustee

Wednesday 15 December 2021

A professional whose career has included roles in finance, retail, legal, journalism and the charity sector in both Guernsey and the UK has joined the Lloyds Bank Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Poppy Murray is also a board member of Sophie’s Smile Ponies and The Ghost Seas Project charities.

In March 2021, she created the BE LADS© initiative, which seeks to raise awareness of the issue of women’s safety when walking alone and gives advice to men about ways they can help women feel safer.

“As a Board, we are constantly reviewing our skills sets and looking at what the Foundation needs to enable us to achieve our objective – to support charities in the Channel Islands which helps to strength our island’s communities," Philippa Stahelin, Chair of the Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, said.

"We are looking forward to Poppy joining as a Trustee and benefiting from her understanding of campaigning, the charitable sector and the digital landscape.”
The initiative has been adopted by the States of Guernsey and is now part of the Year 11 PSHCE curriculum in all Guernsey schools.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: “The last 18 months has really put a spotlight on the extraordinary work and essential role of charities in the Channel Islands. It also highlighted the acute and complex challenges charities face. The way that the Foundation responded so swiftly to support charities during this time really resonated with me. I am looking forward to joining the board and being part of the positive impact, the Foundation enables for our communities.”
