A Jersey PR firm has enjoyed success on the world stage for having promoted awareness of children’s charity Variety.

Collected by Jersey Chief Barker Robyn Lapidus, The Refinery took home the prestigious Media Award from the Variety World Conference held in Atlanta, USA.

Chosen by an international judging panel, the award winners were recognised for their efforts in promoting Variety and their fundraising initiatives.

It comes after the Variety World Conference, which was held in Jersey for the first time in 2016. During the conference, big names including Julia Morley, Rio Ferdinand and Professor Anil Dhawan were awarded for their humanitarian work in changing the lives of children around the world. The media relations for the World Conference was organised by The Refinery PR Director Natasha Egré.

Miss Egré has also been supported through the years by PR Executive Laura Syvret, who helped manage media relations for the Jersey Young Star of the Year Awards for three years running.

The Refinery also advised on communications strategy, press releases and media relations and management.

Speaking about the honour, Robyn Lapidus commented that Variety Jersey had been proud to have nominated the Refinery team. “The Refinery has worked in partnership with the local Tent for over three years and the relationship has had a significant impact on our success. For the World Conference Natasha and her team worked over and above what was expected of them and to such a professional standard. The media coverage received was amazing and has greatly assisted our fundraising. Everyone in Variety, including International, was so grateful for all that they did. We are delighted to see them win this award in recognition of all their hard work,” he said.

Miss Egré added that it had been, “…a pleasure to work with Variety… and with the International Committee.”

“Bringing the Variety World Conference to the Island and the subsequent communications remit was no mean feat but it was hugely rewarding for everyone involved. We are very grateful to our local and international media contacts who worked with us to give this charity the attention it deserves. The Refinery is thrilled to have won this award and hear that our work has made a positive difference.”
