Local law firms and lawyers have been named in an independent review of the world's best private client advisers.

Carey Olsen, Ogier, Collas Crill and Appleby all feature in the the Chambers High Net Worth guide, which ranks the top lawyers and law firms for international private wealth.

Siobhan Riley, the Head of Carey Olsen's trust and private wealth practice, and Partner Alexa Saunders are among 10 lawyers across Carey Olsen's Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey offices to have been recognised by Chambers, one of the world's leading reference and ranking bodies for the legal sector.

Ms Riley ranked in Band 2 while Ms Saunders moved up to Band 3.

Meanwhile, the firm was praised for its "technical excellence" and continues to be ranked in more jurisdictions than any other offshore law firm.

It was the only law firm to achieve Band 1 status in Guernsey, where it is recognised by market commentators for the "strength and depth in its private client department".

The Jersey office attained Band 2 status after being praised by sources for being "very thorough and always well prepared" as well as "very responsive".

"We are delighted that the expertise of our teams in Guernsey and Jersey have been recognised in this excellent set of rankings which, when combined with our rankings in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, put us out in front as the leading trusts and private wealth group in the offshore legal sector," Russell Clark, Managing Partner and Head of the trusts and private wealth group in Guernsey, said.

"We thank our clients for providing outstanding feedback and our staff for their commitment and hard work."

In addition, five members of the team were singled out for praise - Global Service Line Head of Private Wealth, James Campbell; Head of Private Wealth, Sally Edwards; Head of Employee Incentives, Private Wealth, Katherine Neal as well as Partners Josephine Howe and Steve Meiklejohn.

"Ogier's Jersey Private Wealth team continues to lead the market," Mr Campbell said. Collas Crill's Private Client teams in the Channel Islands also feature in the guide.

Both the Jersey and Guernsey teams ranked band 3 and were recognized for their "significant work" in private wealth with four individuals been singled out for their expertise in the area.

Partners Damian James and Kellyann Ozouf, who respectively head up the Dispute Resolution and International Private Client and Trust teams, both ranked band 3.

"We are committed to offering first-class support and advice for our clients and the recognition in the Chambers guide is a reflection of this," Group Partner Angela Calnan, who heads up the team in Guernsey and ranked band 2 in the guide, said.

"We are delighted with the rankings. It's the comments from clients and peers that are particularly rewarding though, as they endorse the high level of service we provide and give further evidence of our position both as leading private client practice and top 10 offshore law firm."
