More women wanted in senior roles

Tuesday 02 December 2014

Supporting women to fulfill their career potential is a key goal for the new chair of the Barclays Wealth Women's Initiatives Network.

Chantelle Hitchcock, who works in financial control at the bank, took over from Carol Bisson to chair the employee led diversity network earlier this year.

The network focuses on providing support for the personal development and career management of male and female individuals at all levels working at Barclays. The Jersey network, which includes 115 members, sponsors a number of initiatives for local Barclays employees including opportunities to hear from internal and external speakers, networking sessions with senior management and a successful mentoring scheme which allows members to benefit from the experience of Barclays colleagues across the business.

“Barclays wants to see more women represented in senior roles across the business and WiN is determined to do all we can to support this and enable women to fulfil their career potential. The WiN mission is to promote the development and career progression of talented individuals at all levels. The network is a platform for women and men working at Barclays giving them the opportunities to engage in networking events, leadership development, and other activities to ensure they have the opportunity to express their ideas and visions," said Ms Hitchcock.

Paul Savery, Managing Director of Barclays Intermediaries in Jersey said the bank recognised the vital role of diversity and inclusion in the business.

“The Barclays Women’s Initiative Network in Jersey committee is extremely active. Their interesting and relevant events are very popular and are usually fully subscribed by members. The local network is a vital part of Barclays’ diversity and inclusion strategy which aims to increase the diversity of our company and we are delighted to support their work in this field," he said.
