New workspace opens for charities

Thursday 14 February 2019

A new hub providing 'hot desks', a meeting room, printing facilities and dedicated support to charities has opened in St. Helier.

Le Pivot, which was opened by the Bosdet Foundation, is located at 56 New Street and is available to local charities and volunteers needing a space to work.

The Bosdet Charity Manager Alan Le Pavoux explained: "The main purpose of Le Pivot is for it to be the place for local charities to come for advice and support. A friendly ear, access to small resources – a hot desk, meeting room and printers, and a training facility in the evenings. We have space here for funders, grant makers and philanthropic organisations, a space is always available for people to work from.

"We are here to help and support anyone in the charity and community sector, if we can’t help, we will know someone that can. We want this space to be used to the point where the floor wears out. My aim is to have an even bigger office in ten years with lots of therapeutic artwork on the walls.’

Volunteer.je, another initiative set up Bosdet, which connects Jersey’s non-profit organisations – local charities, community events, sports teams, environmental initiatives and those who need a helping hand - will also have a dedicated space at Le Pivot.

Mr Le Pavoux said: "We want to encourage more people to come and see what volunteer jobs are available. Anyone is welcome to pop in and have a chat face to face."
