The Jersey Society for Chartered and Certified Accountants (JSCCA) has appointed a new Executive Committee to support its members and represent the accountancy profession in Jersey.

James de Veulle (pictured left), an assurance Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, has been appointed President with Wendy Martin, Head of Tax at EY, supporting him as Vice-President. Both are expected to hold their posts for the next two years.

Catherine Watson, the Chief Internal Auditor of the States of Jersey, will be taking on the role of Chair of the Training and CPD Sub-Committee vacated by Mr De Veulle.

Bob Henkhuzens (Treasurer), Steven Hunt (Accounting Regulation), Matt Ryan (Technical), Andrew Bougourd (Tax), Aynslie Le Brun, Bill Glancy and Tim Brown continue  in their roles, which includes chairing sub-committees for some. Caroline Harrington continues in her role as Secretary.

James de Veulle said: “I am very much looking forward to the challenges that come with the role of President of the JSCCA and working with my colleagues on the Executive Committee to address these. My objectives will include improving the interaction with our members through the launch of a new website, facilitating more regular updates on topical issues, and engaging better with students so that they are well-informed as to what a career in accountancy may offer them. Regular dialogue with members and obtaining feedback from students will be important in achieving these objectives.

"We also aim to reach deeper into the accounting community and grow our membership amongst practitioners in smaller businesses and charities who we believe could greatly benefit from membership, for instance from our training programmewhich is accessible to all JSCCA members.”
