You can soon get posh fish and chips in St Aubin.
The owners of the Seafish Café in Liberty Wharf are opening a new venue on the Bulwarks tonight.
The enormous success of their eatery in town has led the restaurant’s owners to open a new venue in St Aubin, where diners will be able to enjoy the wonderful taste of premium fish and chips, a superior version of this most famous of British dishes that everyone can enjoy whilst drinking in the village’s unique atmosphere.
You'll find it on the Bulwarks, just a few feet from the picturesque harbour and with stunning views of St Aubin’s Bay and the owners hope their new Seafish Café will appeal to fish lovers who enjoy the great taste of fish and chips.
Co-owner of Seafish Café Frank de Jesus said: “With our new restaurant in St Aubin, we’ve created a light and airy space that offers a welcoming atmosphere and will appeal to people of all ages.
“Whether you are looking for somewhere informal to eat with your family or are visiting Jersey and want to eat classic British food in a lovely atmosphere, Seafish Café provides the ideal venue.”
The chef at Seafish Café is co-owner, Roger White, whose menu has proven to be extremely popular with diners in St Helier. The heart of the new menu will remain the same as that at Liberty Wharf, so regular visitors can enjoy their favourites in St Aubin, along with new items including a chicken rotisserie and “Posh Dawgs”, a range of superior hot dogs that includes fabulous “fish dawgs” and nicely spicy “chilli dawgs”.
True to the Seafish ethos, the new restaurant in St Aubin aims to use sustainable sources as often as possible and will offer locally caught items whenever it can. However, the restaurant’s popularity means that it is not feasible to buy everything from local fishermen.
Co-owner and chef Roger White said: “The menu has been designed to appeal to as wide a variety of tastes as possible, which I hope will encourage islanders to eat more fish and enjoy the health benefits that it can bring.
“A portion of fish and chips cooked in our own-recipe batter has half the calories of an average pizza, is high in protein and essential nutrients such as vitamin D and vitamin B12, making it ideal as a treat for the whole family.
“It doesn’t matter what age you are, fish and chips is there for everyone to enjoy. Now that we have created a new dining experience in St Aubin, islanders and visitors will be able to enjoy the stunning taste of fish whilst sipping one of the excellent wines from our list, which has been carefully put together by Dunell’s.
“Our aim is to encourage more people in Jersey to appreciate sustainably sourced fish which, over time, will help them become fitter, healthier and I truly believe, happier!”
Seafish Café opens its doors to the public this Friday and will then be open Monday to Saturday, serving lunch between 12 pm and 2:30 pm and dinner between 5 pm and 10 pm.
