You can now pick up the 'soft' skills you need to lead in the digital sector.
Digital Jersey and Marbral Advisory are launching the 101 Consultancy, a five-week training course for prospective IT consultants.
Effective digital industry workers require more than just technology skills and the new course offers training in all those other vital business requirements - Project management, consultancy, process efficiency and interpersonal skills.
The training programme is aimed at those currently working in the technology sector and has been devised by Marbral Advisory. Tom Hacquoil, Director of Software Development at Calligo will also contribute to the training delivery, as well as 1:1 mentoring support for the course participants. Tom is lead mentor for the Digital Jersey Coding Programme.
The course is being subsidised for those with a proven background in technology and will enable learners to run an IT/Tech consultancy project.
Carla Harris, Director, Digital Jersey, said: “We have launched this course in association with Marbral Advisory in response to industry needs and as part of our skills availability and development programme. We’ve recently undertaken a skills survey within the tech industry, and although the results of this aren’t yet finalised, it already shows a definite need for the soft skills, such as people management, within the digital sector.”
The course will run over five weeks, providing 16 hours of learning via regular two-hour workshops. The cost is £300 per person, and the first workshop is on 12th November.
Trish Caldeira, Senior Consultant, Marbral Advisory said, “As Jersey’s largest change management provider, we understand that change requires careful planning and cooperation from all involved to ensure it will succeed on time and in budget. We provide resources, individuals and training to increase our client’s chances of change success by equipping them with the required skills and know-how.
“Even with the best project management methodologies in place, you need to respect that everyone’s pace of accepting and adapting to change will be different. This training course will explore the importance of managing the people side of change in technology projects.”
