Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel has retained its Green Tourism Gold Certificate for the fourth consecutive year.
Green Tourism is the largest sustainable certification programme in the world - the certificate proves that a business has been independently assessed and certified based on its level of sustainability.
Responsible business champion and food and drink manager Sven Wiltink said environmental impact is a major consideration for Radisson Blu: "As a group we set our Think Planet target in 2011 to reduce our energy consumption by 25% over a period of five years. This target is taken very seriously across all Radisson hotels and it is an ingrained part of our company culture, so we have worked hard to retain our gold certificate."
Radisson Blu has installed LED lights in public areas including the bar, restaurant, reception, meeting rooms, back of house areas and car park. There is motion sensor lighting for storage areas, toilet areas, office areas and stair case lighting as well as seven litre restrictors in the kitchen (reduction of 33 litres), waterless urinals installed in public areas and sensor taps.
The hotel also offers a Green Day delegate programme.
"Environmental issues also form an important part of our CSR activity. We have supported Responsible Business Action Month and Jersey Trees for Life for two years planting 500 trees and hedges a year. We’ve also spearheaded Eco-Active’s Red Squirrel Campaign," added Mr Wiltink
Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel holds the Jersey Tourism Silver Hotel Award and Taste Jersey Gold Award, Eco Active Level 3 award and TripAdvisor Green Leaders in Business Award.
