Roberts Garages Ltd are hoping to develop a multi-point fuel station, retail store and car wash facility at the 50,000 square foot airport forecourt after signing a 25-year lease agreement with the Ports of Jersey.
The agreement will see Roberts move into the refuelling and car sales site on l'Avenue de la Commune in St Peter following development set to begin in 2018 subject to approval from the Planning Department.
It follows an open tender process launched by the site owners, Ports of Jersey, which they say attracted a great deal of interest and subsequent submissions.
The previous lease ended on 31 December 2017 with the Airport Car Centre closing its doors on that date.
Paul Griffin, Group Property Manager, said on behalf of Ports of Jersey: “After a thorough tender process we are pleased to have reached agreement with Roberts Garages Ltd. This will allow us to maintain a retail fuel offering at the airport in conjunction with developing facilities and services for the public in the west of the Island.

"This significant investment by Roberts Garages Ltd clearly demonstrates its commitment to Jersey and desire to deliver internationally recognised products and services in the local environment”.
Ricky Davey, Managing Director of Roberts Garages Ltd, added: "We are thrilled that Ports of Jersey has entrusted us with this opportunity on l’Avenue de la Commune, for which we have exciting plans, and which represents a considerable investment for Roberts. As we will be celebrating our 60th year of trading in 2018, this opportunity to develop such a key location in the Island comes at an ideal time for the company.
"Once built, this site will be the flagship for Roberts Garages and as such will be built to the highest environmental standards. With such a strong following of loyal customers, we are continuously asked to provide similar offerings to our current sites out to the west of the Island and I am pleased we can now meet this request."
